The First Christmas Present Production Photos

A few production photos for the Old Trout Puppet Workshops first major film: The First Christmas Present. I was the on set puppet wrangler and my job was to prepare the puppets for upcoming scenes, dressing the puppets, and knowing how to handle them because many of them required special needs to be put aside properly. I also became the props head, set assistant, and uncredited puppeteer.

I labelled, outlined, and organized all the props onto shelves in my props department. This way it was easier to find in a rush, and I noticed right away if there was something missing. Much of this was was not organized before I arrived on set, and I was frequently praised by how much time they saved for having me; they didn't have to guess where something was and I could tell them where a prop was without having to be present in the room.

This is a another workstation in the props department. We often used pictures as reference for costuming and styling hair (one of the main characters had a wig, which needed to be changed often to different heads.)

Another workstation, and the profile view for a character named Martha. We used real human hair, which I found out later to be far more manageable then fake.

Here are more photos from the production. It was a hard job putting together this kind of project, but well worth the experience. Ill never look at snow on screen again (they make it out of potato, it was very itchy, and difficult to brush out of clothing.)
